Preface

This is an invitation to embark on a journey—not to discover something new, but to remember what’s always been within. A voyage of oneness, compassion, and resonance—not as lofty ideals, but as living energies already embodied. This book is a call to return to our true nature: congruent, whole, and deeply connected to all that surrounds us.

The intuition of unity reminds us we were never separate. The wind, the sea, the trees, each other—we breathe together in one great rhythm. Compassion arises from this realization. Not as sentiment, but as a sacred responsibility—to see through the illusions that divide us and meet each other in truth.

Resonance comes alive when our actions match our inner knowing. When we move in harmony with life’s symmetry and action, and let integrity—not fear—guide our choices.

This book is not here to tell you what to think. It’s a compass. A mirror. A remembering. Of the wholeness, the clarity, the quiet wisdom that has always been yours.

In a world spinning with chaos, we are not being asked to fix it all. Each of us is being invited to become the change—gently, boldly, bravely. Become the message when you dare to live from truth. Surrender the need to know, and trust that the answer lives in your being.

May these pages open something in you. May you walk your path with courage. May your resonance call others home.

Live truth—and keep questioning it. Live kindness. Be willing. Be real. Be whole. Be able.

Introduction

In a time when we are experiencing so many challenges that seem to get all the press, it is vital that we also are exposed to working sustainable solutions across a variety of categories. Physics is now clarifying our existence and the nature of our reality. It is becoming clearer that everything comes from an energy that is difficult to explain and understand. The conclusions are that there is an energy which enables the planet and all existence on it -- with each tree being enabled in much the same way that a human is, only with different boundaries. It is time for us as humans, who are able to affect change, to seek our greater potential. We can use this capacity to support solutions that bring about our highest potential.

Our familiar world is changing beneath our feet. Our long-standing systems for energy, food, water, and peace are all under strain. The effects of extractive industries that have separated us from the natural cycles of life are reflected in climate change, environmental deterioration, and escalating social conflicts. However, these challenges also present a significant opportunity—to evolve.

More than a call to action, Dare to Evolve is an invitation to reconsider how we construct, live within, and interact with the world. This book is a journey toward a mindset of regeneration, connection, and internal reflection, not a manual on sustainability as a far-off idea. It is about the silent revolution that starts inside each of us.

We are living in a time of deep uncertainty where it is difficult to discern truth. This requires that we use our intuition – the deep knowing that everything is interrelated. Everything we do has an impact, just as everything around us affects us. We are all in this together, regardless of our beliefs, and it is time to nurture a support system to challenge our assumptions to find resolutions that serve everyone.

This process of looking at something and then questioning our belief about it is often frustrating. Any time we are in the middle of learning something new we experience that uncomfortable space that often keeps us from moving forward. We would rather just make a decision to accept or deny something without truly resolving it in our mind. How do we move ourselves into the resilience of knowing something new and then have the bravery to be open to the possibility that the truth we decided on may need to be questioned again. The longer we tolerate the awkward feeling in that learning space the more we evolve the human species. It happens one courageous person at a time.

My father had two expressions that taught me that true change begins by looking inward for solutions. Whenever I would get annoyed about something in the world, he would say: “Sounds like a personal problem to me.” Other times when I would escalate to anger and carry on, he would say: “You know you have the same clothes to get glad in.” His words, though simple, carried a profound truth: our power lies in how we choose to respond to the world, not react to it. My spouse Kerry also reminds me of this.

Stories of creatives, individuals, groups, and communities reclaiming traditional knowledge while developing new technologies can be found across these pages. Every chapter offers a glimpse of the solutions that are now available to us, from renewable energy initiatives that challenge the dominance of fossil fuels to regenerative agriculture that restores depleted soils. However, the remedies alone are insufficient; we must have the courage to change the way we think, reinterpret our wants, and foster connection with the Earth and each other.

This book's path reflects the cycles of nature, starting with awareness and progressing to inquiry, involvement, and introspection. The stories of farmers, scientists, spiritual leaders, and regular people who are accepting the challenge of evolution—not via war, but through creation—will speak to you. This is not a how-to book. Rather it is examples of sustainable solutions that show there are alternatives being used today. You are encouraged to support these organizations in their goals to empower solutions. Or, start your own.

To truly know myself and my place, I spend time in nature. Whether we are willing to change into a species that coexists peacefully with the planet that supports us is more important than whether we can bring the planet back into balance. While limited in scope, one chapter at a time, Dare to Evolve opens the door to possibility rather than providing a single answer. This will continue to be a challenge as each new generation must be enabled to see the possibilities beyond our typical egocentric paradigm. There are already many sustainable solutions in progress, some of which you will find in these pages. May these examples inspire you to join in and go further.

Come into the moment. Be inquisitive rather than judgmental. Be intentional with your time and purpose. Investigate and study. Enjoy beautiful moments with others and in nature. Gather. Be open and flexible. Be curious to understand. Learn anew. Be willing to unlearn and relearn, for we are seldom right the first time. Be vibrant with a kind heart.

    Let us begin with love.
